It’s Dr. Ericka here. I am a Harvard trained, double board-certified psychiatrist and integrative lifestyle coach. I’m irrationally passionate about helping people like you be better, so you can do better and ultimately live better. One tool to get you to that better life is a vision board. Vision boards harness the power of visualization and the law of attraction.
I frequently hear “I don’t know how to visualize” or “I have been meaning to do a vision board for forever.” Once you know how to start, anybody can do it! I’m going to show you reasons why a vision board may be the best way to get you to visualize your future!
- Vision Boards are a Great Starting Point
You don’t have to start from ground zero with your imagination. You can just pull something from your vision board as a starting point. With a vision board, you always have content for your visualization at the ready. The vision board gives you additional clarity, and is a reminder that you can use anything that inspires you. You’ve got this!
- Visualization changes your brain in a good way
When you visualize, your brain actually changes and makes new connections. This is called neuroplasticity. You can use this in a sentence and sound like a doctor. So, your brain is reorganizing and remapping as if what you’re visualizing is actually happening. With practice, this becomes easier and easier. Your brain is actually changing to help you attain your goals.
- It’s So Easy
Some people make it sound like making a vision board is super hard. That’s a total myth. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist or an artist to make a vision board. You honestly don’t even have to be very creative. When you start creating a vision board, you find out that it’s actually not that hard. It’s too easy to pass up doing something that is going to be so powerful and give you such a big pay-off. This is a great opportunity to create your narrative, and you have the ability to update or change it whenever you want.
Bonus: They Can Help You Connect With Others
Making a vision board is a great activity to connect with others. You can make them with others, even virtually. You can do them during a challenge, party, or in a community. You can also discuss what’s in your boards together, along with your goals and dreams. It’s amazing how many conversations happen around vision boards and visualization.
